# Segmentation fault (core dumped)

> **Info.** If you need expert help to resolve this or any other issue, please review our **[technical support](https://yucca.app/en/docs/support.md)** terms and conditions

## Description

This error can occur when trying to add a stream

[![segmentation-fault-core-dumped](/en/assets/images/segmentation_fault_core_dumped-7cf4a2bc236e825b979012117c9f72e3.png)](https://yucca.app/en/assets/files/segmentation_fault_core_dumped-7cf4a2bc236e825b979012117c9f72e3.png)

you may also see it in the server log

```sh
WARN    latest/runner.go:308    Failed to create preview: signal: segmentation fault (core dumped)
```

## Solution

To fix the problem, you need to install the **nscd** package

on ubuntu/debian:

```sh
sudo apt install nscd
```

on fedora/centos:

```sh
dnf install nscd
```

## Reason

For Linux, we use a static ffmpeg build from [johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg](https://www.johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/). The build's readme.txt includes this note:

```txt
Notes:  A limitation of statically linking glibc is the loss of DNS resolution. Installing
        nscd through your package manager will fix this.
```
